Student Organization Offices

Inside the Office

  • You may use painter’s tape or double-sided tape dots to post temporary, brand compliant posters and fliers on your walls and/or doors. The tape should not be visible when looking at your posting.
  • If you would like to hang or install items on the wall (including but not limited to framed art, shelves, glass boards, etc.) consult with Student Center and Activities (SCA) staff for approval and to schedule installation by Facilities. Any expenses incurred must be covered by a student organization.
  • If you’re interested in changing or adding furniture (including accessories like glass boards, lamps, etc.), consult with SCA staff to source the appropriate pieces.
  • Any damage to offices will be repaired by Facilities as requested by SCA staff and charged to the home department.
  • No glass windows or doors may be covered without prior approval from SCA staff.
  • Offices must have clear egress in and out to all seating areas at all times.

Common Spaces

Return all furniture to its original location. Do move furniture from one area to another.

Do not place items in a common space without first consulting with a member of the Student Center and Activities (SCA) staff. Examples:

  • “Free” items
  • Furniture
  • Handbills
  • Supplies

Do not solicit or accept donations or gifts of furniture, sculpture/art, AV equipment, televisions, etc. without first consulting with SCA staff. SCA staff must be involved with all free or purchased acquisitions within the building.

Facilities Concerns

Do not submit work orders directly to Facilities – instead, please email htsc@smu.edu with your concern. If you see a matter that needs attention, let us know! We welcome your custodial and facilities concerns so that we can address them as they arise.
