Per Simmons’ workload policy, Associate Deans have a 50% administrative commitment with the remaining 50% devoted to teaching, research, and professional service which is expected and supported.

An Associate Dean of Associate Professor rank must meet the requirements for Associate Professor with a minimum of five years at the Associate Professor rank. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs will have experience in providing strategic, inspiring, and consensus-building leadership to an academic unit. The Associate Dean works to advance the quality and integrity of academic programs, implementing processes and procedures to support accreditation, overseeing educator preparation and certification, and leading faculty professional development and clinical faculty promotion. Further, the Associate Dean provides leadership and oversight to academic affairs matters including the curriculum committee, budgeting, course scheduling, new course and program development, and supporting the West Dallas STEM School initiative.

The Associate Dean for Research and Outreach will advance the quality and reputation of the academic programs within the school and has experience in providing strategic, inspiring research leadership to an academic unit. This Associate Dean provides organizational and institutional support for major research initiatives and proposals; oversees research compliance and certified approvers; oversees responsible research conduct, ethics, and safety; approves proposal routing forms (PRFs) and other research funding requests; and serves as point of contact for conflict of interest management. The Associate Dean oversees promotion and tenure for the tenure-track faculty, the work of the Director of External Affairs and Outreach, and the PhD program. The Associate Dean is responsible for supporting the West Dallas STEM School Initiative.

The Simmons School of Education and Human Development at Southern Methodist University (èßäÊÓƵapp) is accepting applications for two (2) tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sport Management positions.

Candidates are expected to perform research and teach classes within the sport management programs while also mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. About the Department of Applied Physiology and Sport Management

The Department of Applied Physiology and Sport Management offers both graduate and undergraduate programs. Its graduate programs include a Master of Science in Sport Management and a Master of Science in Health Promotion Management. Its undergraduate programs include majors and minors in sport management, applied physiology and health management, and sport performance leadership. In addition, the School’s Ph.D. in education program offers an option for focused study of applied physiology. As needed for research and observation, students have access to the department’s two laboratories: the Applied Physiology Laboratory equipped with an environmental chamber, force plates, and teaching pods and the Integrated Physiology Laboratory that specializes in the study of autonomic function in health and disease.

Department of Counseling

The Department of Education Policy and Leadership invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership. This is a non-tenure-track, ten-month contract with the possibility of renewal. The position is responsible for teaching coursework in the department’s two Ed. D. programs - one in PK12 and the other in Higher Education-- as well as in the master’s programs in PK12 and Higher Education. The candidate should be able to teach applied quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. The faculty member will serve as a chair and advisor for EdD dissertations, provide writing and research support to graduate students, and engage in service to the EPL department.
