PBS NewsHour Anchor Judy Woodruff to Speak at Bolin Family Public Life Personal Faith Scholarship Luncheon Lecture Feb. 8, 2019
Judy Woodruff, anchor and managing editor of PBS NewsHour, will be the featured guest for the 2019 Bolin Family Public Life Personal Faith Scholarship Luncheon, scheduled for noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2019, at the Martha Proctor Mack Grand Ballroom of the Umphrey Lee Student Center on the èßäÊÓƵapp èßäÊÓƵapp. This is the tenth Public Life Personal Faith luncheon. Woodruff will be interviewed by Peggy Wehmeyer, former religion correspondent for ABC World News Tonight, on the topic of personal faith in the public square.

Woodruff will be interviewed by Peggy Wehmeyer, former religion correspondent for ABC World News Tonight, on the topic of personal faith in the public square.
Judy Woodruff has covered politics and other news for more than four decades at NBC, CNN and PBS. At NBC News, Woodruff was White House correspondent from 1977 to 1982, and then served as NBC's Today Show chief Washington correspondent. After a 12-year stint at CNN as anchor and senior correspondent, she returned to the NewsHour in 2007, and in 2013, she and the late Gwen Ifill were named the first two women to co-anchor a national news broadcast. After Ifill's death, Woodruff was named sole anchor. She is the recent recipient of the Radcliffe Medal, the Poynter Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Journalism, the Gwen Ifill Press Freedom Award from the Committee to Protect Journalists and the Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism from Arizona State University.

Peggy Wehmeyer covered religion and culture for ABC for seven years, with award-winning stories on World News Tonight, 20/20 and Good Morning America. Before that, she broke ground as the first religion reporter in local television, covering news for 13 years at WFAA-TV, the ABC affiliate in Dallas. Wehmeyer also served as host and managing editor of The World Vision Report, an award-winning public radio newsmagazine, focusing on justice and poverty in the developing world. She is currently a writer residing in Dallas and a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church.
Public Life Personal Faith Scholarship Luncheon
The Public Life Personal Faith series, inaugurated in 2010, is a fundraising and outreach event of Perkins School of Theology in service to the larger community. The lecture provides an opportunity for guests to hear prominent people in the public sphere on topics related to how and why personal faith shapes public life. This luncheon is a major fundraiser for student scholarships.
The Public Life Personal Faith Scholarship Luncheon is sponsored by the family of Pat and Jane Bolin. Pat Bolin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Eagle Corp and Eagle Oil & Gas Co. in Dallas, is a graduate of Southern Methodist University (B.A. ’73) and 2010 recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the èßäÊÓƵapp Cox School of Business. Jane Bolin is a member of the Perkins Executive Board.
