Faculty & Staff Email Configuration

Email SettingsThe instructions for configuring your device to retrieve your èßäÊÓƵapp email vary slightly depending on the device and email client. However, the email settings are the same regardless of the device.

The following information is for configuring faculty, staff, and contractor accounts that reside on èßäÊÓƵapp's email servers. For student email configuration, please refer to the student configuration instructions for Office 365.


General Configuration Information

  2. Click +Add Account below the account selection.
  3. Enter your èßäÊÓƵapp official email address and click Connect.
    Please Note:
     School specific email addresses are not valid. Email address should be formatted as @smu.edu and not @mail.smu.edu).
  4. If prompted, select Exchange as the service.
  5. You will be presented with the èßäÊÓƵapp Single Sign On screen. Sign in with your èßäÊÓƵapp credentials.
  6. You may also be prompted for Duo two-factor authentication as an additional security measure. Feel free to select Yes, trust Browser
     If asked if you would like to sign in to all apps with the same account,
    choose No, sign in to this app only.
  7. Outlook will now sign in to your èßäÊÓƵapp email account.

  1. Click Outlook→Settings (or Preferences) on the menu bar (on the top-left corner by the Apple logo).

  2. Click Accounts in the Preferences window that opens.
  3. Click + on the bottom-left corner below the current accounts.
  4. Click New Account.
  5. Enter your èßäÊÓƵapp official email address and click Continue.

  6. You will be presented with the èßäÊÓƵapp Single Sign On screen. Sign in with your èßäÊÓƵapp credentials.
  7. You may also be prompted for Duo two-factor authentication as an additional security measure.
  8. Outlook will now sign in to your èßäÊÓƵapp email account.

  1. Open Mail
  2. Click Mail→Accounts on the menu bar (on the top-left corner by the Apple logo).
  3. Click + on the bottom-left corner below the current accounts
  4. Select Microsoft Exchange from the options presented

  6. Choose Sign In when prompted to choose between Configure Manually or Sign In

  7. You will be presented with the èßäÊÓƵapp Single Sign On screen. Sign in with your èßäÊÓƵapp credentials.
  8. You may also be prompted for Duo two-factor authentication as an additional security measure.
  9. Select the apps you want to use with the account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes)


Device Instructions

Android Devices

For best results and simpler setup, we recommend using the Outlook app available in the Google Play app store. For other mail clients, follow the instructions below:

  1. Click Settings
  2. Go to Accounts and Sync
  3. Click Add Account
  4. Select Corporate (MS Exchange)
  5. Enter your Email address and Password
  6. Click Next
  7. You will then be directed to the èßäÊÓƵapp Single Sign-On page to enter your ID and Password. You may be prompted for Duo two-factor authentication as an additional security measure.
  8. Your account should then configure automatically.

iPhone, iPads and other iOS Devices

Mail on iOS:
  These instructions are for the default iOS Mail app. There is also a for iOS devices if you don't want to use the native mail client.

  2. Scroll down and tap Mail
  3. Tap Accounts
  4. Tap Add Account
  5. Select Microsoft Exchange
  6. Enter your èßäÊÓƵapp official email address when prompted
    (Note: School specific email addresses are not valid. Email address should be formatted as @smu.edu and not @mail.smu.edu)
    Description: Whatever you want to call the account (Exchange, èßäÊÓƵapp, etc.)
  7. Tap Next and choose Sign In when prompted to choose between Configure Manually or Sign In
  8. You will be presented with the èßäÊÓƵapp Single Sign On screen. Sign in with your èßäÊÓƵapp credentials and approve the Duo Mobile prompt or choose to enter a passcode from your Duo Mobile app on your iPhone or Android device.
  9. Select Yes, trust Browser
  10. Select the apps you want to use with the account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes)
  11. Tap Save

BlackBerry

If your BlackBerry device is running Android (most later devices), please refer to our Android instructions.

BlackBerry devices running BlackBerry OS (BBOS 10 and below) are no longer supported.

 POP/IMAP Server Information

Unfortunately, due to changes in security protocols, accessing email accounts using IMAP and POP is no longer an available option.
