Reporting Security Incidents
By Telephone
The IT Help Desk can be contacted at (214) 768-4357 when an incident has occurred.
After business hours, notifications may be made to the IT off-duty answering service at (214) 768-4357.
The Information Security Officer may also be notified directly at (214) 768-7321.
By Email
An email may be sent to abuse@smu.edu. The email should contain:
- Your name, phone number/s, and other contact information
- Information about the incident, including a description of the incident, any date/time information (when the incident was discovered, when the incident occurred), and any other relevant information
- Any actions that you may have taken
Online
A Get Help request may be submitted by users with a valid èßäÊÓƵapp login and password
Get Help at
In the issue field, include:
- Your name, phone numbers and other contact information
- Information about the incident, including a description of the incident, any date/time information (when the incident was discovered, when the incident occurred), and any other relevant information
- Any actions that you may have taken
In Person
If you have any questions, concerns, or reports regarding data security at èßäÊÓƵapp, contact the IT Help Desk at 214-768-4357 or at help@smu.edu. You can also visit the IT Help Desk in person in Fondren Library West near Starbucks.
If the incident is an emergency, involves threats to personal safety or physical property, or involves any illegal activity, immediately contact the èßäÊÓƵapp Police Department at (214) 768-3333 or dial 911 from a èßäÊÓƵapp phone.
