Melanie Clemmons is a new media artist that reimagines our use of digital technology toward a softer and more carefully innovative present and future, one that is symbiotic with art. She explores the exponential ubiquity and advancement of networked digital technologies, and the myriad and often bizarre ways humanity is irrevocably altered by them (for better or worse). She makes asset packs, videos, net art, installations, 3D printed sculptures, and XR experiences and performances.

In addition to national/international gallery and museum work, Clemmons toured with Pussy Riot doing visuals during their first North American tour and collaborated on several music videos. She has collaborated with Zak Loyd since 2009, performing live visuals and composing immersive video, laser and XR installations. She is an assistant professor of digital/hybrid media at èßäÊÓƵapp in Dallas, TX.

Clemmons has exhibited her work at, among others: HeK (House of Electronic Arts), Basel, Switzerland (via Lorna Mills’ Ways of Something); Dieglan Gallery, Akureyri, Iceland; Scope BLN, Berlin, Germany; the Whitney Museum of American Art, Manhattan (via Lorna Mills’ Ways of Something); Light Year, Brooklyn; Echo Park Film Center, Los Angeles; LRLX, San Francisco; Aggregate Space Gallery, Oakland; UPFOR Digital, Portland; Denver Digerati’s Supernova, Denver; Women and Their Work; Austin; Museum of Human Achievement, Austin; Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas; and many other DIY spaces and venues.
