MA Medical Anthropology, Southern Methodist University, 2015
BA Anthropology, The University of Texas at Austin, 2012
I completed my BA in Anthropology at The University of Texas at Austin in 2012. I am currently in the MA Medical Program, with the aim that I will work as an applied anthropologist prior to getting my PhD in Medical Anthropology.
I am conducting research on health-seeking behaviors and reproductive healthcare of women in recovery from substance abuse. The women I study are all either pregnant and/or parenting and are in treatment at Nexus Recovery Center. Themes of motherhood, identity, the role of CPS, and insurance policy support the main focus of what it means to be a woman in recovery.
Entered program in 2013.
