Shaffer studies modern American history from the conclusion of the Second World War to the present. He is particularly interested in the intersection of foreign policy and politics during the Cold War. Prior to beginning work at èßäÊÓƵapp, Shaffer studied Texas political history at the University of North Texas, which resulted in the development of his Master’s thesis “Manipulating Fear: The Texas State Government and the Second Red Scare, 1947-1954.”
