Don Jackson Center for Financial Studies
In 2010 David B. Miller (BBA ’72, MBA ’73) Managing Director of EnCap Investments provided a lead gift to establish The Don Jackson Center (DJC) for Financial Studies. The Center is named in honor of retired Cox School Professor Donald F. “Don” Jackson (BBA '63). Mr. Miller credits Professor Jackson’s influence as a major contributor to his personal and professional success: “I majored in Don Jackson and my vision for the Center is to create and sustain the energy that I experienced in Don’s classroom for future generations.”
The activities of the Don Jackson Center for Financial Studies are intended to continue the tradition started by Professor Jackson to train and help mold future leaders for careers in finance. Teaching was not just a profession to Dr. Jackson; it was a life calling. His mission was to inspire his students with the love for learning while providing them the practical lessons that could be applied outside the classroom. Following in this vein, the Center offers ways in which students can connect with their professors and industry professionals for transformational experiences. In particular, the DJC’s initiatives stress the importance of one of the cornerstones of Don Jackson’s teaching and life, integrity.
The Don Jackson Center for Financial Studies serves as a cornerstone of excellence for the Cox Business School student body. The Center provides support for student-managed finance clubs, funds for student internships and research assistantships, software and databases for faculty and students, and travel grants for student attendance at conferences and seminars. The Don Jackson Speaker Series brings leading scholars and financial experts to èßäÊÓƵapp for seminars and presentations each year.
